a few moments from our Friday morning

Happy Friday, everyone!  Here are a few snapshots from around our home, beginning with a shot of Mt. Etna out our kitchen window.  She erupted again last night (see an acquaintance’s video of the activity here) and was still blowing off steam all morning!

^^^ On the right… yay for IKEA Italy, who may have forgotten to include the two handles for Lena’s toy kitchen in the box but were quick to fix the problem and send the replacements to my door.  I’m also proud because I did the whole request/complaint in Italian and it actually worked!

We had a picnic lunch with Daddy on base.  The plume of smoke above Elliott is from Mt. Etna… still erupting into the afternoon.  (Also, that same picture shows why all kids love my husband!)

What have you been up to this Friday so far?  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  xoxo

How very lovely. We know not all moments are perfect or frustration free, but it’s good to be grateful for the small graces, like tadpoles, in our lives…and the large ones, like children :).

It looks like a beautiful morning!

It looks like you are quickly becoming a seasoned veteran of staying at home with two. I laughed when I saw the little piles of puzzles, books, etc. set up in careful corners. Strategic, my friend. And bonus points on the Redskin swag….

Shelly, piles are the only way to make everything seem manageable! There are so many piles in my house these days: piles of mail waiting to be filed, piles of clean clothes waiting to be returned to drawers, piles of dishes waiting to be washed or put away… and the piles keep growing as the kids do!

What have I been up to this Friday…? I’ve been at work, teaching French to elementary students (which means I’ve been playing lots of fun games!) So far we’ve played “tic-tac-toe” as a review game for a quiz on time in 4th grade, “simon says” as a review of transportation vocab in 5th grade, and “two truths and a lie” to review family vocab in 3rd grade. One more class to go- we’re watching a video about two different families in France and then creating a Venn diagram to compare them with our own families. Not a bad way to spend a rainy Friday! Happy weekend, friend!

Tadpoles! What an amazing idea to do with kids! (now I’ll be looking for tadpoles in every puddle, all your fault ;) ) I love the smooches, so cute.

Fridays are day-without-Dad around here, so it’s been just Oath and me, playing and crawling all over the apartment. This little guy has gotten so fast in no time! Now he sleeps and I get my much needed weekly alone time.
Nothing as fun as your Friday, for sure!

I’ve been watching a friend of mine who has a boy just about Oath’s age. She is constantly in motion as she tries to keep up with him! I know those days are coming again for me…

Dear Grandma Margaret, thank you so much for this kind note! We should be back in the States for a month or so this summer and will be staying part of the time at my parents’ house. We would love to see you!

    Yeah Redskins!

Today I had 16 sick call patients t the jail and just 1 intake. Had time to finish my progress notes from Wednesday before I left- yay. Met Meriwether for a little catch up, biked to get some green fingernails near E. Market. Now winding down!

    • Becca April 15, 2013 at 2:43 pm #

Green fingernails? Is green nail polish in this year?

Wow! I am really impressed by your Ikea accomplishment! I think when you can do that kind of thing in a foreign language, you really are doing well! And, such cute pictures!! Love the smooch smash! :-)

    • Becca April 15, 2013 at 2:29 pm #

Thanks, Joy! The trick was doing it over live chat, because then I could combine my own Italian with the help of Google Translate. I honestly don’t know if the IKEA employee knew I was foreign or not. Either way… it worked!

I really can’t imagine living close enough to a volcano to see it erupt. That just seems like the epitome of “exotic” to me! So fabulous!!!

    • Becca April 15, 2013 at 2:25 pm #

Haha, yes, it DOES sound exotic! You just can’t get used to an erupting volcano no matter how many times it happens in your backyard.
