a newborn photo shoot… or at least an attempted one!

Don’t you just love those darling cheeks?!

I borrowed a couple of props from a friend to take these newborn photos of Gil.  Unfortunately the photo shoot did not go quite as I’d hoped.  How do photographers keep babies happy long enough to get those gorgeous photos?

Here are a couple outtakes, just for laughs.  So far my fellow is not a big fan of hats!

And here is how the photo shoot ended… and that’s indicative of how most of life is these days, too.  Gil loves to be held.   Oh well, though it often becomes tiresome in the moment (or hour… or hours…), I’ll hold him while I can.  These days will be over too soon!

    Very cute! From Soren’s newborn shoot, the key was to keep him happy, warm, and fed. I would imagine it would be very difficult to do that AND take the photos. Our photographer brought a portable heater, and I would feed him whenever he needed it. In most of the photos he’s sleeping, but they’re adorable. Good luck, if you try it again!

    He is adorable! It’s hard to believe he’s as young as he is…all that hair, and such a wise look on his face! :) I remember that “hold me” stage, and while it is weary-ing, (is that a word?), you’re right…it goes by so fast. Our oldest (the one who always wanted to be held) just took the car to school this morning!!

    I had a friend take newborn photos of Miah and she brought a heating pad and put it under blankets and then Miah on top. Seemed to work for her and Miah. Your photos look great and Gil is absolutely adorable!

    I love the one where he’s trying to take his hat off. So cute!

    I hear you on the difficulty of taking good posed photos all by yourself. I am taking a photo a month of my little one and I am running into lots of problems. The latest? He wants to throw himself off of the sofa, so I have to put a mat and lots of pillows below and be extra fast so he does not succeed! This months he won, and after a (thankfully cushioned) fall, I gave up and just took the photo when he slept.

    I am the Gil of legend
    I’m growing every day;
    But I’m a boy, I don’t like hats
    So I throw them all away.

    Oh my heck, is he cute. He really looks like Lena to me; does he to you?

    He is soooooo cute!! An absolute doll! Wyatt also (*still*) loves to be held, and I think he’s approaching thirty pounds. There are moments when I think my arm will fall off,but… Like you, I try to remember that one day I will be amazed to think I could ever have held him. They grow so fast, don’t they?

    I’ve heard they use white noise machines and heaters so the room is very warm and cozy. Cute boy!!!

    Oh my goodness, thank you for sharing. This is a wonderful blog and you have such adorable children! Yes, Gil is so, so adorable, but he will grow up so fast! Axel took a while because he was 6-7 weeks premature, but now he is speeding through life :) I have subscribed, so hopefully can watch him and your family grow! This blog is so fancy, by the way. It makes mine look so amateurish! So great to be in touch!
