new favorites in my kitchen

When my mom visited in March, she brought Lena these two “mini spatulas” for when she helped me in the kitchen.  I don’t know quite how it happened, but one day I found myself using them myself… and I’ve been using them daily ever since!

Of course, if I’d seen these in a store, I would have thought, “How cute!” and walked right on by.  (Part of my “just say no” spending strategy, maybe?)  But I would have totally underestimated their power.

These little spatulas get in all the nooks and crannies of child-sized dishes, blenders, food processors, and those hard-to-reach spots where you spilled batter on the pan in between the cupcakes.  They’re light and easy to maneuver, unlike my other spatulas… which I also love but now hardly ever use.

Who would have thunk it?  You can get mine on Amazon here OR get an even prettier set with better ratings here.

What’s your latest and greatest kitchen gadget?

P.S. Thanks, Mom! :)

We’ve got a little spatula too that has definitely come in handy. Erika is the spatula connoisseur in our family…

Personally, my (maybe our) favorite kitchen gadget of the moment is the cast iron skillet that my friend Cory gave to us for our wedding. Tons of different cool uses (pizza, cobbler, cake, burgers, and more).

Good to know! My pans are oven-proof and I use them in there for frittatas and some stove-to-oven dishes. I wonder if I would use a cast iron skillet more than what I already have?

I have those little spatulas, I love them. Great for the food processor.

I really like my Panini press. Quick grilled cheese for my toddler’s lunch :)

I left a lot of gadgets behind because I didn’t want to fry them with a transformer (we broke our waffle maker that way, boooo).

You broke your waffle maker with a transformer? Or by forgetting to use a transformer? We fried our wonderful coffee maker the latter way, but I have heard of people being afraid to use appliances on a transformer at all. I’m curious if there’s any science behind this? My family and I used American appliances on transformers our whole lives overseas and never had any issues… as long as we were using the right transformer (different ones have different power) and remembered to use the transformer at all!

We got one of those little spatulas for our wedding and I love it!! It’s also great for getting peanut butter from the bottom of the jar!

Not sure if this counts as a gadget, but I love our Squish Expanding Over the Sink/Collapsible colander. It’s easy to store since its collapses but will expand to I can set it over the sink without having to hold it!

My dear friend Abi gave me one of those for my wedding, Phi! They are awesome!
